behaviour
Welcoming a dog into a family home means accepting a number of responsibilities. It is of great importance that you and your family interact properly with your dog from the very beginning. Handling the animal with care and raising it in a consistent manner will leave you with a friendly, obedient dog you will be proud of and will want to be seen with.
To successfully train your dog, it will need to learn to come when you call it to you, stay at your side during walks or to halt, stay, sit or lie down on command. Rewards or reprimands should be accompanied by vocal commands such as “GOOD DOG” and “BAD DOG”. Rewards should be part of the training. Beaphar offers a range of different treats you can use to reward your dog. Make sure you use a pleasant tone of voice and choose the same wording for a command every time. Take care your dog does not wander from the main road or pavement and put your dog on a lead when near other animals in a park or field.
